Qatar issues cybersecurity guidelines for the civil aviation sector

The General Authority of Civil Aviation, in cooperation with the Cybersecurity department of the Ministry of Transportation and Communication, issued the first version of the "Guidelines for Cybersecurity in Civil Aviation", which included security principles and standards for the protection of vital areas in the aviation sector, as well as best practices in security in this area.

 

The State of Qatar is the first country in the Middle East to issue guidance materials on the application of security standards to address and reduce threats and cyber-attacks in the civil aviation sector. These latter will contribute to the awareness of all stakeholders and employees, in the civil aviation system in the State of Qatar and guide them in order to apply the best practices in the field of electronic security, said the General Authority of Aviation in a statement a copy of which has been sent to the organization.

 

The statement added that this version comes in line with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which urges all Member States to develop such measures and to work on continued cooperation and support in this area at the local and international levels.

 

The General Authority for Civil Aviation praised the efforts and the great support of the cybersecurity Department in the Ministry of Transportation and Communication for the releasing these guidelines.
