Last May witnessed wide and significant participations of the State of Qatar, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority in various meetings of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) held in Montreal / Canada. Between 7 to 9 May, Qatar participated in the first meeting of the Working Group on ICAO Rules of Settlement of Disputes Workshop which ICAO aims to review all rules concerning dispute resolution techniques and their impact on the civil aviation industry. The working group consists of 23 countries, including the State of Qatar.

During the workshop, the State of Qatar presented proposals for solutions that would contribute to speeding up the process of resolving disputes and conflicts affecting the civil aviation industry, in line with the great development witnessed by this sector around the world. The Council of ICAO adopted the recommendation of the thirty-seventh session of the Legal Committee to establish the group following the proposal of the State of Qatar.
