The ACAO attended the MID DGCA/6 meeting conducted in Abu-Dhabi, UAE from 1st to 3rd November 2022. The meeting has been chaired by H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi and attended by the Head of Civil Aviation Authorities within the accredited states to the ICAO Mid Office, as well as aviation.

The meeting addressed many subjects regarding the development of the Civil Aviation within the region covering technical areas as Safety and Air Navigation, Aviation Security and Facilitation, Environmental Protection, Economic Development of Air Transport as well as the Planning and Implementation Support. Then, the meeting agreed to conclusions, as to encourage States and International Organizations to coordinate with the ICAO MID Office regarding the organization of joint Revenue Generation Activities, calling the States to actively participate to the MID Flight Procedure Program (MID FPP), urging States and stakeholders to support the achievement of the MID Enhancement Program (MEP) for reducing the Air Navigation deficiencies as well as requesting the States and Stakeholders to support ICAO MID office in the drafting of the MID Region Air Transport Strategic Plan 2025-2040.

ACAO provided the meeting with a progress report on the implementation of the Regional Cooperation Joint Plan for the period 2019-2022. It was highlighted that 84% of the activities included in the joint plan were implemented, in addition to 11% of unplanned activities, despite the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting noted with appreciation that ACAO, ICAO and the other Organizations have improved their level of cooperation and coordination to suit the States’ needs and contribute to an efficient implementation of the ICAO SARPs and Global Plans (GASP, GANP & GASeP).
