The Sixteenth Arab Conference of Heads of Border, Airport and Port Security Services Tunis, 12th and 13th October 2022

The Arab Civil Aviation Organization participated in the 16th Arab Conference of Heads of Border, Airports and Ports Security, organized by the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, in Tunis on October 12 and 13, 2022.

 

Representatives from the Ministries of Interior in Arab countries, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences took part to this conference.

 

This conference was an opportunity to review a number of topics on the agenda that constitute a basis for joint Arab action, including discussing a draft of an indicative Arab strategy to combat crimes of maritime piracy and armed robbery on ships, a mechanism for communication between border security operations rooms in Arab countries, as well as the results of Euro-Arab Conference on Border Security. This is in addition to exchanging experiences in the field of combating the smuggling of prohibited substances using drones and submarines. In this regard, the Conference adopted recommendations related to the aforementioned topics.

 

In a briefing speech by the representative of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, the conference was informed that the latter, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers and the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, will organize the first Arab Forum on airport security detection during the year 2023.
