The 47th meeting of the Air Transport Committee

The 47th meeting of the Air Transport Committee was held at the headquarters of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in Rabat (Kingdom of Morocco) on March 23-24, 2022.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Khaled Mohamed Antar, the air transport expert at the organization, on behalf of His Excellency Eng. Abdennebi Manar, the Director General of the organization. He welcomed the members of the committee and the observers from the member states of the organization, as well as the observers from the international and regional organizations. He also congratulated all the participants on the occasion of the seventy-seventh anniversary of the founding of the League of Arab States on March 22, 2022, wishing His Excellency The Secretary-General Ahmed Abou Lgheit and all employees of the League and its affiliated organizations further progress and prosperity. And also, on the occasion of the month of Ramadan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Sudan, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco. The Islamic Republic of Mauritania, as well as representatives of the International Air Transport Association and the Arab Air Transport Association attended.

The meeting discussed several important topics, especially in light of the current conditions the world is experiencing from the Corona pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, and other topics that contribute to improving the economic conditions in the field of air transport.

The committee issued several recommendations on these topics, including:

 

  • Holding a workshop on the Cape Town Agreement 2001, which is related to the registration of aircraft and the actions contained therein, especially in light of the current circumstances.
  • Presenting joint working papers on behalf the Arab Group for the 41st session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to address global challenges and crises that impede the recovery of international air transport.
  • Providing support to the various international air transport fields.
  • Refer to the indicative guide issued by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization under the umbrella of the League of Arab States for the recovery of air transport during the Corona pandemic.
