The UK Department for Transport (DFT), the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) jointly organised a virtual Workshop on Drones on 9th & 10th November 2021.

The main objective of this Workshop was to bring all the concerned stakeholders to a common approach for handling the risks /threats of drone incursion at airports vicinity and into segregated airspaces. Furthermore, this Workshop was focused on the latest drone detection Technologies and solutions.

During this workshop, participants had the opportunity to share their experiences regarding the establishment of Drone regulations and policies and were able to exchange views and best practice on threat identification and mitigation. the participants were also able to share examples of the latest technology, policies and approaches they are using to countermeasures drones within their region. The Workshop also covered current and future challenges to safely integrate Drones operations in to airspaces. The Workshop agreed on a series of recommendations .

Moderated and lead by 16 international experts, the workshop brought together 100 participants from 14 Arab States, 5regional organizations, regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders.

ACAO, TSA and DfT agreed their cooperation should be expanded by organizing further events and activities on thematic such as security, cyber security and drones. We are looking towards the upcoming Symposium on drone planned to be organized jointly under the umbrella of ACAO, TSA and DfT and ICAO.
