Rabat - The General Directorate of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, headed by His Excellency Eng. Abdennebi Manar, Director General of the Organization, alongside Mr. Faical Benslimane, Head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department, and Mr. Omar Babiker Shenibo, Head of the Internal Control Unit, participated in the meeting of the 30th session of the Organizations Committee for Coordination and the follow-up emanating from the Economic and Social Council. The meeting was held from 27 to 29 July 2021, via distance communication technology, and witnessed the participation of the representatives of the Arab member states, and the general managers of specialized Arab organizations.
His Excellency Dr. Ambassador Kamal Hassan Ali - Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs of the Arab League, opened the session. In his speech, he welcomed the attendees and congratulated everyone on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. HE stressed the important and required role of the joint Arab action institutions at this stage in which the Arab region is witnessing important changes and developments. He explained the most important topics included in the session’s agenda, wishing the committee’s meeting success and that its work would yield recommendations that support and enhance the work of the specialized Arab organizations in particular, and joint Arab action in general. His Excellency clarified the tasks required from this committee, and stressed the importance of the commitment of Arab specialized organizations to the decisions of the Economic and Social Council, as the supreme authority for specialized Arab organizations. He referred to the efforts made by the General Secretariat of the League in cooperation with Arab countries to develop and activate joint Arab action.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Khair Abdelkader, Director of the Arab Organizations and Federations’ Department at the Arab League, stressed the importance of the meeting, explaining that this committee plays an important role in enhancing coordination, cooperation and exchange of experiences between the General Secretariat of the Arab League and joint Arab action organizations and institutions to increase the effectiveness of joint Arab action.
During this session, special topics submitted by some specialized Arab organizations, as well as the study of the regular item consisting on the follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and decisions of the previous session of the Committee were also reviewed.
During the meeting, HE Engineer Abdennebi Manar reviewed the draft work program and budget of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for the year 2022, in addition to the activities and the most important achievements implemented by the organization during the years 2020-2021.
The meeting also discussed the achievements of the Arab organizations, the final accounts and the internal control bodies of the Arab organizations, the decisions of the Arab Economic and Social Council related to the joint Arab action organizations, in addition to a number of special topics submitted by some specialized Arab organizations, such as the organizational structure of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, which was approved during the meeting of the 26th ACAO’s General Assembly on July 2021.
It is worth mentioning that the recommendations of the meeting will be submitted to the Economic and Social Council at its next session scheduled to be held in the last week of August 2021.
