The Arab Civil Aviation Organization participated in the works of the thirty-ninth session of the General Assembly of the European Civil Aviation Conference, via teleconference, on the 12th of July 2021.

This session was attended by the heads of civil aviation authorities of the member states of the Conference, the President and Secretary-General of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization, the Director General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, the secretaries-general of regional civil aviation organizations, and representatives of countries that have cooperative relations with the European Conference.

During this session, Mr. Alessio Quaranta, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Italy, was elected President of the European Conference for the period 2021-2024. The members also discussed the results of the conference's work in the areas of safety, investigation of aviation accidents, unmanned aircrafts, security, facilitation, environment and economic issues. The work program for the next three years 2022-2024 was approved.

In his speech during this session, the Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization praised the close cooperation between the latter and the European Conference, which culminated in the signature in 2019 of the joint work program for the period 2019-2022, including several activities in the field of civil aviation security that were organized within the CASE PROJET project as well as in the field of reducing the effects of air traffic on the environment.

His Excellency also expressed his optimism for the continuity of this cooperation with the new president and the General Secretariat of the European Conference, through the improvement of consultation mechanisms on regional and international issues, which contributes to the sustainability of the air transport industry.

His Excellency seized this opportunity to brief the members of the European Conference on the Rabat Statement, which was issued by the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization at the conclusion of its twenty-sixth session on July 1, 2021, regarding the measures taken to confront the emerging pandemic of the Corona virus and ways to launch the recovery of civil aviation. He noted that this statement called on Arab countries to continue to communicate with the relevant health authorities to publish the standard underlying their travel procedures, and which take into account the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization prepared by the CART team, while working on the mutual recognition of health certificates with the rest of the countries and federations.
