Paris - January 19, 2021, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization participated in the fourth Environment Forum of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC Environmental Forum), from 19 to 21 January 2021.
One hundred and twenty participants representing, representing member states of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), partner countries (USA, Canada, Singapore ...) and international and regional organizations (ICAO, European Commission EC, Arab Aviation Organization. ACAO Civil Aviation, LACAC, African Civil Aviation Commission AFCAC, IATA International Air Transport Association, ACI Europe Euro control, EASA, ...), and the aviation industry (Airbus, ITF International Transport Forum ...) participated in this forum, which was organized via videoconference.
The participation of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in the aforementioned meeting falls within the framework of its commitment in the Joint Action Plan 2019-2022 between the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC); the latter aims to contributing to capacity building and providing technical support and assistance to member states.
During this meeting, the participants reviewed the latest developments regarding studies and research level related to the reduction of CO2 emissions at the European, and the progress made in achieving the ambitious long-term goals in accordance with the decisions of the 40th ICAO Assembly as well as the contribution of States and international and regional organizations regarding the Carbon Offsetting and reduction scheme in the field of international aviation (CORSIA), and priorities and future work programs related to the environment at the international and European level.
During the forum, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization also made a presentation on the Arab region’s contribution to the implementation of the Carbon Offsetting and reduction scheme in the field of international aviation (CORSIA), and the progress made in preparing a national action plan to reduce CO2 emissions as well as the activities of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in terms of assistance, building and capacity development in the field of environmental protection.
