Rabat, The Environment Committee of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization held its nineteenth meeting through visual telecommunication technology via the "Zoom" facility, on 15 and 16 December 2020.

This meeting witnessed the participation of 19 participants representing 10 member states of the organization and the Arab Air Transport Association. During this meeting, participants discussed the latest developments and procedures related to environmental protection in the field of civil aviation in light of the spread of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The participants also discussed the latest developments related to the implementation of the carbon compensation and reduction plan in the field of international civil aviation "CORSIA" as well as the challenges faced by Arab countries in terms of send the year 2019 carbon emissions reports to ICAO, as well as the developments of the second preparatory meeting for the 12th meeting of the Civil Aviation Environmental Protection Committee (CAEP).

In light of the developments and future challenges that the Arab region may face in the field of environmental protection and to raise awareness in this regard, the committee recommended a package of procedures and measures to confront these challenges, which will be brought to the attention of the organization's governance bodies.

In order to keep abreast of developments in the field of environmental protection, the committee has adopted a mechanism for forming a team of Arab experts on environmental protection in the field of civil aviation. The team will be entrusted with carrying out studies, research and consultations, and all the matters referred to by the committee.
