Sudan, Tunisia and UAE win membership in the Civil Aviation Organization

MONTREAL - The Republic of Sudan, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Tunisia won membership of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), under part III, for the 2019-2022 term, following the elections held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

 

It should be noted that the Republic of Sudan will join as a member for the first time, thus strengthening the Arab Group to the ICAO Council. The UAE, which ranks high in the global air transport industry, is elected for the fifth time. Tunisia was elected for the eighth time. In 1962 she took office for the first time as part of the planned rotation between Maghreb region States.

 

In the same category, Costa Rica, Côte d´Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Greece, Malaysia, Paraguay, Peru, South Korea and Zambia were also elected.

 

The 40th ICAO session, which is taking place in Montreal, Canada, will run until 4 October.
