Sheikh Salman elected First Vice President of the 40th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization

 MONTREAL - Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, President of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and President of the Civil Aviation of Kuwait, was elected First Vice-President of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization during the opening of its meetings in Montreal on Wednesday.

 

In a statement to the media, Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah expressed his appreciation for the confidence of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in his election as First Vice-President of the General Assembly.

 

Sheikh Salman praised the efforts of all employees in the Kuwaiti aviation sector, especially the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, which culminated by the election of Kuwait to this high position. He added that this achievement is a medal of pride that doubles Kuwait´s efforts to promote and enhance international cooperation in the field of civil aviation.

 

He added that the success of the Kuwaiti delegation attending the General Assembly meetings was an indication of Kuwait´s prominent position among nations and an affirmation of the great role of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah May God preserve him as "leader of humanitarian action" and the appreciation of this leader at the international level.

 

 He said that "the appreciation of more than 194 countries to Kuwait confirms the progress witnessed by the air transport sector in the country and the support it receives from His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister."

 

Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud stressed Kuwait´s keenness to continue progress and develop to establish an independent civil aviation authority like the developed countries.

 

On the sidelines of the General Assembly meetings, Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, accompanied by Eng. Abdenbi Manar, Director General of the Arab Air Organization, held talks with Singaporean Minister of Transport Khaw Boon Wan.

 

On the other hand, Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud held talks with Malaysian Minister of Transport Anthony Loke Siew Fook, where they discussed cooperation in the field of air transport and ways of enhancing the exchange of experiences between the two sides in the fields of navigation, aviation safety, air transport and airport management.
