Coordination meeting between the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunis Tunisia -
A coordination meeting between the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (AACO) and the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior held in Tunis last Friday. Mr. Faisal Bensliman, head of the administrative and financial affairs department of the organization, attended the meeting where the participants discussed means of developing the coordination mechanism between the organization and the council secretariat. The participants addressed the draft Arab Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Unlawful Interference against the Safety and Security of Civil Aviation in light of threats and acts of illegal violence carried out by individuals or criminals and terrorist organizations against civilian aircrafts, which endanger and threaten their security and the safety of persons and other passengers and others.
The meeting comes within the framework of increasing the efficiency of Joint Arab action and avoiding duplication, in order to enhance cooperation and coordination among the various Arab joint action institutions under the umbrella of the Arab League, particularly the directives of the Secretary General of the Arab League and the latest being the recommendations of the higher coordination committee of Joint Arab action, during its 48th meeting held in Beirut, Lebanon, on 19-20 June 2019, which called for engaging in a serious and strong manner to enhance the cohesion and solidarity of the Arab labor institutions and to strengthen confidence in the Arab work system in general to ensure that risks, threats and challenges besetting the Arab nation are overcome and to move towards new prospects for a more stable, secure and prosperous future.
The meeting also considered the invitation of the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Interior to participate in the third meeting of heads of border security, airports, ports and customs agencies in the Arab countries, scheduled in Tunis from 17-18 July 2019.
On the other hand, participants discussed the activation of the cooperation agreement signed between the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and Naif University for Security Sciences, as the university is the scientific body attached to the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, which aims at enriching research in this field of studies.
The meeting was attended by the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Interior, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Baba Salama, Director of the Secretary General´s Office.
