The Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization holds its 61st meeting in Rabat

Rabat - The Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization held its 61st meeting on 29 and 30 April 2019 in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, with the participation of all the members of the Executive Council. The Republic of Iraq participated as an observer.

 

 His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser bin Ali Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Executive Council and Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the Sultanate of Oman opened the meeting. He welcomed the members and congratulated the members on the holy month of Ramadan, pointing out the importance of the meeting and the topics on its agenda.

 

HE Abdenbi Manar, Director General of the Organization, presented a report on the activities and work of the Organization´s General Directorate. He began his address by thanking the members of the Executive Council for their continuous support to the General Directorate of the Organization, highlighting the Organization´s most important achievements and technical activities. The report also discussed the steps pursued by the organization to cooperate with regional organizations. The report included a proposal to organize a conference on tourism and air transport in the Arab World and an Arab-European conference on Air transport as well as proposals for self-financing of the Organization.

 

The Council recommended approval of the Air Transport Committee recommendations at its 41st Meeting, adoption of the recommendations of the Air Navigation Commission issued at its 40th meeting, as well as the recommendations of the Air Safety Committee issued at its 42nd meeting and the Aviation and Environment Security Committees.

 

The Executive Council decided to adopt the proposals of the General Directorate of the Organization concerning the organization of the Arab Civil Aviation Award, the Arab Civil Aviation Week and the celebration of the Arab Civil Aviation Day.

 

At the end of its work, the Council recommended the adoption of a proposal for the establishment of a technical support fund in the field of civil aviation in principle, pending the conduct of a comprehensive study, including the mechanisms for monitoring and disbursing the funds allocated to States in need to be presented to the work of the Executive Board at its next meeting.
