In the context of the interest of the General Directorate of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization to ensure the success of organizing the meetings of the technical committees on time, the Forty (40th) ACAO Air Navigation Committee Meeting was held from 21 to 22 March 2019 in Casablanca-Morocco, with the presence of 6 member states and representatives from ICAO.
On behalf of Eng. Abdennebi Manar, Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, the meeting was opened by Mr. Ibrahim Al-Jabri, Chairman of the Air Navigation Committee and by Eng. Mohamed REJEB, Air Navigation Expert, where they welcomed the members of the committee and underlined the importance of the meeting in the context of the development of technical work in the field of air navigation, the main challenges ahead as well as the vision and objectives of the Organization for the next two years.
They also stressed the importance of being well prepared for the work of the 40th Session of the ICAO Assembly, to be held from 24 September to 4 October 2019 in Montreal-Canada, and the need to cooperate with organizations regional and international organizations, in particular ICAO, to save effort, avoid duplication and improve efficiency.
The meeting tackled several topics of importance in the field of air navigation in the Arab region, including the follow-up to the recommendations of the Air Navigation Committee at its 39th session, the Executive Council at its 60th session, as well as the expansion of satellite navigation coverage.
